I saw Pastor Ayo in Jerusalem. He spoke candidly to President Jonathan: Pastor told the President about the suffering of Nigerians, including the members of the Body of Christ; Word of Life Warri not excluded. He said for a nation as endowed as Nigeria, God is not pleased that more than 50% of the population had to survive on less than N6,000 per month; He lamented that the poverty is as intense if not worse in oil-rich Bayelsa where the President had been Deputy Governor and later Governor. He asked Mr. President what he, his predecessor and successors did with all the 13% derivation funds; He told His Excellency that God particularly detests the worship of Mammon. That Mammon had become a god in Nigeria, its major manifestation being the pervasive corruption. He told the President that he must make fighting corruption a priority if he wants God to bless Nigeria. He encouraged the President to make Botswana a case study; He told him that Ms. Stella Oduah’s continuation in office was untenable. That God will not be pleased with such impunity; He advised Mr. President to publicly declare his assets, and that he should feel free to “give back” to the country; He advised him to insist that the first lady is a ceremonial office, not a constitutional one, and to insist that it be operated as such; He told him that in case there was a generous honorarium for him (Pastor) as the Spiritual Leader of the trip, he wasn’t interested. The only honorarium he wanted was for the President to dedicate himself seriously to fighting poverty and corruption, and uplifting “several millions without shoes”. By the way, he also told the President that the pilgrimage had been a time of intense renewal. That God had also told him to do the following which he had immediately started work on: i. To limit the role of “Mama” as the office of “Pastor Mrs.” is extra-biblical; ii. While it is lawful to keep his private jet, he was selling it and donating the proceeds into a Trust for managing one or two public schools in Warri. He was also going to do the same to his American stretch limo. iii. He had realized that while God wanted his children to prosper, the gospel that preaches that people can continue to use faith to extract wealth from God while ignoring their unfaithfulness and unholy lifestyles is not balanced. He was going back to speak to the leaders of the church; iv. The manner of life most Christians are living, with rampant participation in bribery and corruption, and immorality amongst the youths; perhaps only very few are ready for the rapture. He is going to preach a return to the cross of holiness and sacrifice. v. God had spoken seriously to him about his duty is to speak the truth to Mr. President, the Governor of Delta State, all those present at his last birthday and presentation of his private jet, and indeed to all those in authority. The bible is full of examples of leaders who spoke the truth to those in authority. The Lord Jesus called “President and C-in-C” Herod a fox. John the Baptist rebuked the same “President” Herod for his immoral conduct. Moses demanded that Pharaoh release the people from bondage. God reminded him to embrace the sacred duty of “speaking the Truth to Power” and visibly standing on the side of the poor in engaging government for change. vi. God has further asked him to tell G.O., Bishop and other church leaders that they must be the mouthpiece of God in rebuking evil and oppression, even if the target of such rebuke are the high and mighty. A cozy and warm embrace of those who fail in their duties in governance resulting in the suffering of many is at variance with the posture and teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ; vii. God made him realize that most of the prayers for prosperity will become unnecessary if Nigeria is well governed. God said His primary vehicle for extending prosperity to most people is through good governance and a well-ordered society. Prospering through miracles, signs and wonders was to be the exception, not the requirement. In well managed nations, most people live well, whether they know about miracles or not. When there is rain; it blesses the just and unjust. When there is recession, it affects all. Matt 5:45b: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. viii. In particular, God had told him to lead a crusade to eradicate bribery and corruption in Nigeria; and Pastor also spoke to Ms. Stella to repent, seek peace with God, apologise to the nation, resign and “give back” OH MY GOD, I JUST WOKE UP FROM MY DAYDREAM!!! SCRIPTURES: Mark 6:18 John the Baptist kept telling Herod, “It isn’t right for you to marry your brother’s wife!” (Today’s English Version) Luke 13:31-32 A few minutes later some Pharisees said to him, “Get out of here if you want to live, for King Herod is after you!” 32 Jesus replied, “Go tell that fox… Living Bible James 2:1-4 Dear brothers, how can you claim that you belong to the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, if you show favoritism to rich people and look down on poor people? If a man comes into your church dressed in expensive clothes and with valuable gold rings on his fingers, and at the same moment another man comes in who is poor and dressed in threadbare clothes, 3 and you make a lot of fuss over the rich man and give him the best seat in the house and say to the poor man, “You can stand over there if you like or else sit on the floor”-well, 4 judging a man by his wealth shows that you are guided by wrong motives.
